The intent of this project was to design a new art gallery to house Les Wexner's Picasso collection. In addition to the permanent collection, the gallery must accommodate visiting works, community education, and artist apartments. The idea for my project was to combine an Egyptian temple with the work of Peter Eisenman. This was accomplished through the blurring of two intersecting grids. The exterior grid is reminiscent of Peter Eisenman’s Berlin Memorial, and appears to be monolithic and inactive. The interior grid resembles a hypostyle hall, which appears dense and alive. These two grids are blurred together to create different conceptions of the dominant grid.
