The following is a proposal for an experimental theater in New York City. It was inspired by peep shows, labyrinths, social media, single surface buildings, and New York itself. The project consists of 42 separate miniature theaters, all of which are contained within a spherical skin. The idea being that each scene takes place in its own theater, while there are two different plays going on at once.
The goal is for the user to figure out the proper sequence, using the architecture to guide them. This is done primarily through a series of peep holes which dot across the walls, floors, and ceilings and weave in-between interior and exterior spaces. The holes act as a visual guide by allowing small glimpses into the plays.
This design encourages people to experience theater in new ways. The logical sequence might not always be the most interesting and certainly not the most entertaining.
